Fake identity
As old as art itself is the technique of transformation. Very exciting therefore is the current debate about that in the young contemporary art. This exhibition will include items that deal with borrowed identities, masquerades, the construction of personality, etc.. Günther Brandstetter published in verdächtig (suspicious, 2010) the metamorphosis of his Counterfeits as mug shots in the newspaper, Eva Schlögl (A) takes on the role of her neighbours in Grundsteingasse 20/8 (2010) by enacting in her productions their supposed life, Alexis Milne (GBR) creates in his video multiple safe Riot 68, which is, besides reflecting on media, creating the possibility of a different progress of demonstrations in which roles are shifted slightly but however effective and Kaweh Modiri (NL) is reflecting in Mijn Inbreker en ik on current socio-structural developments in the Netherlands through the debate with an imaginary burglar. The artistic items are presented in a setting that reflects this thematic focus on an additional level.
